INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – As stores move out of Circle Centre Mall, management is working to make the property more accessible to shoppers.
“It is kind of difficult. You have to go all the way to one end of the mall to get in,” says a shopper.
Simon Property Group manages Circle Centre and plans to open a new entrance on the South side of the mall on Georgia Street between Meridian and Illinois.
“I’m sure it cannot hurt to open another entrance,” says a shopper.
The new entrance will target potential shoppers who are on Georgia Street, others who are at the Indiana Convention Center, and sports fans at Bankers Life and Lucas Oil.
“If there is easier access to get in the mall I think more people will come,” says a shopper.
This new addition comes at a time Circle Centre has lost more than half a dozen retailers. Abercrombie and Fitch is gone, Gap, California Pizza Kitchen, Johnny Rockets, and Yankee Candle Company also closed up shop.
“It is weird how random stores and restaurants are closing down. It seems to be happening out of nowhere, they just close,” says a shopper.
Downtown residents and businesses hope the new entrance will bring more people and money to the heart of the city.
“If it makes it better, it is good for us because we live here. We definitely would like business improve,” says a shopper.
The new entrance is set to open by mid Summer.
