Sony Pictures Entertainment, which is the entertainment arm of Sony Corp., has settled the case regarding the hacking of personal data with nine former employees. The hacked data was tied to the 2014 film The Interview. Sony Pictures has not made any comment on the issue.

The nine former employees stated that they were forced to increase their credit monitoring to prevent the greater risk of identity theft because of the negligence of Sony. This caused them economic harm and therefore the class-action lawsuit was filed. The hack wiped a huge amount of data and email, sensitive employee data and pirated copies of new movies were made public online.

Deadline.com was the first to report this news. According to a court filing, the former employees have to submit a motion of the settlement for initial approval by October 19. The details about the settlement have not been made public yet.
