Hundreds of backpacks and school supplies kits will be given away on July 30 as part of Molina Healthcare’s Back to School Bash.

This free, public event will be held at Legacy Charter School, located at 900 Woodside Avenue, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Molina will donate 500 backpacks and 400 school supplies kits during the bash on a first come, first serve basis as supplies last.

An inspiration for the event, cited by Molina, is results of the annual Kids Count Survey.

It shows that 27 percent of the children in South Carolina live in poverty and many more struggle in education.

Other freebies offered at the event will be blood pressure screenings by Bon Secours St Francis Health System, vision screenings by Surgeons for Sight, hearing screenings by Clarity, Inc., and haircuts by Institute of Beauty Artistry.

There will also be free face painting, a jumping house and games. Community organizations will provide information on local resources.
