E*Trade Financial Q2 Profit Down

E*Trade Financial Corp. (ETFC) Thursday reported second-quarter net income of $292.0 million or $0.99 per share, up from $69 million or $0.24 per share last year.

Net income, excluding an income tax benefit related to finalizing an IRS audit, was $72 million or $0.25 per share.

Revenues for the quarter dropped to $310 million from $319 million last year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $0.27 per share on revenue of $446.95 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
