Makeup can be expensive AF. You know that feeling when your favorite beauty products burn the biggest hole in your pocket? Same. But the real question is: Is there even that big of a difference between expensive makeup and super-cheap makeup? Beauty bloggers on YouTube are putting that question up to the ultimate test with the #DollarTreeMakeupChallenge. This challenge consists of doing your entire face of makeup using products that only cost $1. The results are mind-blowing.
Not even kidding, beauty blogger @ItsMyRaeRae just slayed her entire face using Dollar Tree beauty products.
Here’s a breakdown of the $1 products she used:
- Sassy + Chic Moisture Foundation
- L.A. Colors Liquid Foundation
- Colormates Compact Makeup
- L.A. Colors Pressed Powder
- L.A. Colors Eyeliner & Brow Pencil
- Colormates Brow Powder
- L.A. Colors Eye Shadow in "Sunflower"
- L.A. Colors Blush in "Berry Plum"
- L.A. Colors Eye Shadow Palette
- JLASH Natural Eyelashes
- Colormates Lipstick in "Ginger Spice"
- Colormates Lipstick in "Black Orchid"
She starts by applying the Sassy + Chic foundation that she mixes with the L.A. Colors Liquid Foundation.
Next she applies her concealer with Colormates Compact Makeup. "This blends out really, really good," she says.
She sets her foundation and concealer with L.A. Colors Powder in "Tan" and "Nude" using this $1 brush, y’all.
Brow time! She starts by penciling in her brows with L.A. Colors Eyeliner and Brow Pencil in black and adds more shade definition with Colormates Brow Powder.
For blush, she applies L.A. Colors "Berry Plum." She says, "This used to be my jam!"
To add more of a glow, she uses the gold shade in L.A. Colors Eye Shadow Palette to highlight the top of her cheekbone, bridge of her nose, and right beneath her brow arch. "I’m always using eye shadows to highlight," she says. "I’ve been doing this for years."
She applies each shade in the L.A. Colors Eye Shadow Palette to make her lids pop.
Then she uses the same L.A. Colors Eyeliner and Brow Pencil as a liner to "smoke out" her eyes.
She doubles up on two sets of JLASH Natural Eyelashes for a more dramatic look. IMO, you can use just one set if you want.
Next she lines her lips with Colormates lipstick in "Black Orchid" that she blends with Colormates lipstick in "Ginger Spice." "This is a real ’90s lip. I like this! Yaaaaaaas!"
For extra shine, she swipes on some clear lip gloss.
She finishes off her look with L.A. Colors Bold Lash Mascara
"It goes to show [you] it doesn’t matter how much something costs," she says. "It really matters how you work it!"
I mean, she just took beauty on a budget to a new level. Look at how stunning this dollar tree makeup looks!
