Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) May 05, 2015

NCPDP announced today that AmerisourceBergen has joined NCPDP's Elite Partner Program. The program establishes a three-year commitment of strategic support for NCPDP, and is limited to a maximum of 10 Elite Partners. "AmerisourceBergen has supported our multi-stakeholder forum over 3 decades," explained Lee Ann Stember, President of NCPDP, "and this is a wonderful continuation and expansion of its commitment to NCPDP's work.

We can trace AmerisourceBergen back to our very first Board of Trustees in 1976; one of our board members was a founder of Bergen Brunswig, serving on NCPDP's board to represent wholesale drug companies," continued Stember. "Throughout the years, AmerisourceBergen has supported our work in a number of ways, including through its Good Neighbor Pharmacy®. It is a pleasure to welcome AmerisourceBergen into our Elite Partner Program."

"Pharmacists are challenging themselves each day to expand the services that they deliver in order to best support patients," said Chuck Reed, Group Vice President of Pharmacy and Technology Solutions for AmerisourceBergen. "This elevated role requires pharmacists to exchange patient and clinical information with other providers which can only happen through the development of industry standards. To that end, we are thrilled to enhance our longstanding relationship with NCPDP, which goes back to day one of the organization with our Elite Partner commitment."

As an Elite Partner, AmerisourceBergen's long-term commitment to NCPDP will provide critical support of the valuable standards development and other work of NCPDP, including its continuing evolution as the forum for healthcare business and patient safety issues; for education; new product development; and the enhancement of existing products that support NCPDP's operations.
