In Epi's 3-Ingredient Recipes series, we show you how to make great food with just three ingredients (plus staples like oil, salt, and pepper).
Store-bought tomatillo salsa provides a shortcut to spicy and flavorful guacamole, while fresh lime juice brightens up the dip in a flash.

Ingredients

Makes about 2 1/2 cups

3 avocados, coarsely chopped
1/2 cup mild or medium heat tomatillo salsa
1 tablespoon (or more) fresh lime juice
1/2 teaspoon (or more) kosher salt

Preparation

  1. Mash avocado, salsa, lime juice, and salt with a fork in a medium bowl. Taste and adjust seasoning, if needed.

  • What happened to Epicurious!? It used to be my favorite site for recipes until they destroyed their search function!

  • I had some tomatillo salsa I wanted to use but don't like it much by itself. This recipe was perfect for my needs, easy to make, and tasty - even for my 4 year old granddaughter! Would add onion next time.

  • I cannot believe the "grumps" that leave some of these reviews!! To each his own and if you don't like it, don't make it or eat it!!

  • Come on! Guacamole made wholly from scratch only requires 4 ingredients (5 if you count salt). Avocado, onion, cilantro, lime, salt. All quantities as per personal preference. That's it. That's all guacamole is. Period.

  • Seriously? My two year old can count to four. Otherwise, I'm sure this taste great.

  • Sounds good but I don't have a nearby store that sells tomatillo store salsa. Can you provide a recipe? When tomatillo is available in season, I usually make my own tomatillo salsa, which is superb.

  • Storebought tomatillo salsa is not a single ingredient. You might as well by some tomatillo guacamole and call it "single ingredient tomatillo guacamole". Also, you can't judge the recipe because you don't really know what's in it or how it was processed.

  • I am constantly amazed how worked up people get on a recipe website! Really, people are your lives so pathetic that you are this angry all the time? Let it go! Make the recipe or don’t, it is your free choice.
