Efforts underway to remove Eric Conn's name from his high school alma mater

Eric Conn's name will no longer be on a sign at Betsy Layne High School. The Floyd County School System is now in the process of removing it.

The sign indicated Conn is a graduate of of the school On Friday maintenance crews spray painted over the sign.

There is a petition to remove the panel with Conn's name, but a school system spokesperson says plans were already in the works to remove it.

"He's been a disgrace to the law profession, so I don't know why a school would want his namesake representing their alumni," said Janie Boyd, a 2000 graduate of Betsy Layne High School.

Maintenance crews are expecting to replace the panel with Conn's name on it in the next couple of weeks.
