With the upcoming return of Miss Asia-Pacific International this year, I decided to make a senti feature on the 2003 edition of its predecessor-pageant Miss Asia-Pacific which has an available complete video uploaded on YouTube.
That was the year when Tatyana Nikitina of Russia was proclaimed winner with her court that included (an equally deserving winner) 1st Runner-Up Shonal Rawat of India, 2nd Runner-Up Andrea Ovares of Costa Rica, 3rd Runner-Up Tracy Freundt of Peru and 4th Runner-Up Samantha Wong Wye Yeng of Malaysia.

This year, Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia-Pacific International 2016 Ganiel Krishnan (photo below) will be the Philippine entry to the resurrected Pan-Asian beauty competition that has been scheduled for an October finals.

ms, asia pacific quest (won by carines zaragoza in 1982) was the name of the pageant during the 70’s and 80’s when the local franchise was held by the mutya ng pilipinas, inc.
the mutya ng piliinas-world title was included in the crowns, where the winner was sent to the ms world pageant,

969 the first Miss Republic of the Philippines Pageant debuted when Spotlight Promotions of Ferdie Villar obtained the franchise to select the Philippines’ delegate for the annual Miss World beauty pageant.The beautiful Feliza Teresita Nuesa Miro who is best remembered for winning over heavy favorite Vida Doria became the first Miss Republic of the Philippines. Miss Republic of the Philippines had its final year in 1976.
NOTE: Vida was crowned a year later as 1970 Bb Pilipinas- Universe and holds the distinction of being the first Miss Philippines to be selected as Miss Photogenic in Miss Universe during the pageant’s 1970 edition.
