Inland Empire United Way received a grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation to support its Kids Pack Program.

The Bank of America Charitable Foundation recently announced that $227,500 in grants were given to 20 Inland Empire nonprofit groups, including some which serve residents of Fontana.

The nonprofits are focused on providing basic human services, such as emergency shelter and access to food and benefits, to help Inland Empire residents at their immediate point of need.

According to the nonprofits, these grants are estimated to impact nearly 580,000 Inland Empire residents, with 100 percent of funds going toward individuals and families with low to moderate income.

"Our philanthropic investments are one way that we at Bank of America are working to connect individuals in our community to the resources they need to lead financially stable lives," said Al Arguello, Inland Empire market president of Bank of America. "Working with and supporting local institutions that provide basic human services is pertinent not just for individuals and families in need, but for our entire community."

One of the beneficiaries was Inland Empire United Way, which will use the grant funds to support the Kids Pack Program, which provides weekend food for children.

Other nonprofits that received funding include: Catholic Charities San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, Children's Fund Incorporated, Cove Communities Senior Association, Feeding America Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, Foothill Family Shelter Inc., Olive Crest, Safe Alternatives for Everyone Inc., Shelter Providers of Riverside Inc., Time for Change Foundation, United States Veterans Initiative, Victor Valley Family Resource Center, Coachella Valley Rescue Mission, Desert AIDS Project, Food in Need of Distribution, Inc., Galilee Center, Inc., Hidden Harvest Corporation, Martha's Village and Kitchen Inc., Mizell Senior Center of Palm Springs, and Palm Springs Film Festival.
