Deals Rumor Mill: BT PLC, Total SA, Cinven

By Benjamin Horney (February 4, 2015, 5:13 PM EST) -- U.K. cable provider BT PLC is set to buy U.K. mobile phone operator EE Ltd. from Deutsche Telekom AG and France's Orange SA for almost $20 billion, and the deal could be announced as soon as Thursday morning, according to a Wednesday report from Reuters. The deal has been in the works for at least a few months, as BT entered exclusive discussions with Deutsche and Orange in December. Under an existing nonbinding offer, BT would pay a combination of cash and stock to take ownership of the EE unit, set up as a joint venture in 2010. Deutsche Telekom would hang onto a 12 percent stake in BT through the deal, with Orange taking a 4 percent slice....
