Park Sterling Bank says it has signed a lease for space a few blocks off Main Street, which it will use as a regional headquarters.

The Charlotte-based bank said it will use 15,000 square feet at 617 East McBee Ave. as part of its strategic expansion in the Upstate.

Its new office will house commercial banking, treasury services, wealth management, mortgage operations, special assets, asset-based lending and loan review teams, as well as a retail branch to serve residential and business customers.

Park Sterling said its personnel will relocate to the new location by the end of the year once renovations are complete.

The Upstate is “a key focus for Park Sterling. We are very excited to move forward with our new office in a vibrant downtown location,” said Dixon Harrill, Park Sterling’s Upstate president.

“Park Sterling has been fortunate to continue to execute on our plans for this market, including the recent hire of some exceptional local talent. Having all of Park Sterling’s lines of business and support teams housed together in the new space assures exceptional customer service.”

Jim Cherry, Park Sterling’s chief executive officer, said the bank “will continue to invest in the Upstate South Carolina market, but we will do it in a thoughtful, measured way that assures we can fund the growth we desire to achieve.

“Our recent acquisition of Provident Community Bank, with 9 offices in South Carolina including two offices in nearby Simpsonville and Laurens, is another example of our commitment to the region. Greenville is thriving, and we are proud to bring our reputation for strong corporate citizenship to the area, and to continue working towards our vision of building a strong regional community bank franchise in the Carolinas and Virginia.”

Park Sterling Corp., the holding company for Park Sterling Bank, has headquarters in Charlotte. With approximately $2 billion in assets, Park Sterling is the largest community bank in the Charlotte area and has 43 branches stretching across the Carolinas and into North Georgia as well as a loan production office in the Greater Richmond region.

The company’s common shares trade under the PSTB symbol on Nasdaq.
