Arrest made in August overdose death in Manitowoc

MANITOWOC (WLUK) - A city man was arrested Saturday for a drug overdose death in August, according to Manitowoc police.

Cathleen Dokey, 48, was found unresponsive at her S. 36th St. home on Aug. 23, according to a police report.

A witness told police Dokey bought heroin from James Cartwright the night before. Police examined text messages on her phone, which also tied her to Cartwright and a drug deal. Cartwright denied any involvement.

Toxicology results determined Dokey died of a combination of heroin and methampetamine intoxication.

Formal charges have not been filed. Cartwright, 39, is expected to appear in Manitowoc County Circuit Court for a bond appearance Monday afternoon.
