NW Louisiana wrestlers earn state seeds

Several northwest Louisiana wrestlers are seeded for this weekend's Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Wrestling State Tournament at the CenturyLink Center  in Bossier City.

Three Airline High School wrestlers earned No. 1 seeds in the Division I state tournament. Javarious Jones is the top seed in the 126-pound weight class. At 160, Christopher Walden is the top seed and at  182, Keegan Gilligan is the top seed.

Byrd's Clay Celli is the No. 3 seed in the 106-pound weight class. Airline's Tucker Almond is No. 5 at 113. Airline's Thomas Barringer is the No. 8 seed at 120. At 126, Byrd's Alex Williams is the No. 8 seed.

Airline's Joshua Partin is the No. 3 seed at 132. Airline's Antonio Lococo is the No. 4 seed at 145. The Vikings also have seeded wrestlers at 170 (No. 7 Darrell Evans) and 195 (No. 7 Alex Davila.)

Airline takes top spot at regional wrestling tourney

In Division II, Parkway's Nathan Pitts is the only northwest Louisiana wrestler seeded first. He is the top seed at 152 after winning a state title at 145 last year.

North DeSoto's Matthew Martin is the No. 8 seed at 106. At 113, Parkway's Garrett Strozier is the No. 3 seed and Huntington's Devante Cooper is the No. 7 seed.

Three area wrestlers are seeded in the 120-pound class. Haughton's Dylan Holliday is seeded third. Parkway's Trevor Tamburo is seeded fourth and North DeSoto's Levi Shaw is the No. 7 seed.

At 126, Parkway's Matthew Pitts is the No. 5 seed while Benton's Brandon Carrigan is the No. 8 seed.

Three more area wrestlers are seeded at 132. North DeSoto's Chris Bates is seeded second. Parkway's Toby Fontenot is the No. 5 seed and Armunti Turner of Caddo Magnet is seeded sixth.

At 138, Magnet's Eddie Williams is seeded fourth and Parkway's Dalton Driggers is seeded fifth.

Parkway's Ryan Huckaby is the No. 7 seed in the 145-pound weight class.

Bossier's Rodney Nelson is seeded seventh at 152.

Byrd captures 6th straight city wrestling title

Two area wrestlers are seeded in the 160-pound weight class. Parkway's Levar Allen is the No. 2 seed and Benton's Preston Beach is the No. 8 seed.

Huntington's D'Anta Anderson is the No. 2 seed at 170. Also in the 170-pound weight class, Benton's Jordan Myles is the No. 7 seed.

At 182, North DeSoto's JR Davlin is the No. 4 seed and Haughton's Kendrick Kruskie is the No. 8 seed.

Three area wrestlers are among the top eight seeds at 195. Haughton's Daniel Monroe is the No. 3 seed. North DeSoto's Justin Gaskin is the No. 4 seed and Natorious Blackshire of Bossier is the No. 8 seed.

Three more area wrestlers are seeded at 220. Haughton's Johnny Vanveckhoven is the No. 2 seed. Benton's Chandler Beach is the No. 7 seed and Layton Thurman of North DeSoto is the No. 8 seed.

Airline wins Bossier Parish meet

At 285, Haughton's Jonathon McClesky is the No. 4 seed.

In Division III, Evangel has four seeded wrestlers. Hunter Colding is the No. 7 seed at 106. Richard Mack III is the No. 2 seed at 113, Donnie Scott is the No. 6 seed at 126 and Joseph Presley is the third seed at 285.

Calvary's Cole Bedgood is the No. 5 seed in the 160-pound weight class.
