Hurst broke down over Ms Parker's death in a TV interview

Heartbroken Chris Hurst, who worked at local news station WDBJ alongside Parker, said the frenzy of news coverage and the sickening details of her murder have become too much for him.

A sobbing Hurst said: "You start to see things you maybe didn't want to see.

"News you didn't want to see... and the images. It gets harder and harder all the time."

I've done more in the nine months I spent with her than I had in years prior.

The 28-year-old is conducting a campaign to show the world how wonderful his girlfriend was after she was savagely gunned down by her former co-worker during a live report on Wednesday, along with her cameraman Adam Ward.

Showing off a cherished book of memories of Parker he had made through their short-lived relationship, an emotional Hurst claimed she gave him a purpose.

Holding the book of photographs to the camera, Hurst said Parker began to keep it three months into their relationship and had left pages blank for them to fill together in the future.

He said: "I've done more in the nine months I spent with her than I had in years prior.

"I hope no matter who comes into my life, I celebrate it, enjoy it, document it, share it."

He said the pair had also been discussing buying a house together, but Alison was killed "before we could start saving".

Hurst commemorated his girlfriend as beautiful and her journalistic skills - telling cameras how during a child abuse special, the 24-year-old had managed to gain the trust of a 13-year-old neglect survivor who spoke to her for the show.

Parker's former colleague Bryce Williams gunned the pair down in a twisted revenge attack against her and the station.

In a rambling series of posts of Twitter Williams furiously claimed that she had made "racist comments" against him.

He also claimed that a complaint had been filed against her through the equal employment opportunity commission, but that WDBJ chose to hire her anyway.

Shortly before he shot himself in a stand-off with police, Flanigan posted a newspaper clipping in which it was revealed that he was suing the station over the "racism" he claims he experienced during his time working there.

Hurst had previously posted a series of tweets commemorating Parker.

One read: "She was the most radiant woman I ever met. And for some reason she loved me back. She loved her family, her parents and her brother."
