Huggies confirms there is 'no glass or fiberglass' in their baby wipes

After a California mother's video went viral for allegedly finding glass pieces in a new package of Huggies baby wipes, the company launched an investigation.

A spokesperson for Huggies manufacturer Kimberly-Clark, Terry Balluck, tells Yahoo Parenting that they retrieved the product from the mom, and sent it to an independent lab for testing.

Before the test results came back, the company explained that the shiny pieces the mom saw may have been the "molted fibers from the materials used to manufacture the product," which occur when "you blend polypropylene and cellulose."

After the company received results from independent testing of the first samples, they confirmed on Facebook that there's no presence of glass or fiberglass in the wipes. See the full statement below:

Popsugar notes the company has updated its FAQ page to reflect this issue, with the first question reading, "Is there glass in your Huggies wipes?" To which the company answers:

Huggies decided not to recall the baby wipes, as it's "confident" the wipes are safe. The company says those with concerns should call its consumer service team at 1-888-485-6839 or visit its contact page.
