Mass Megawatts Wind Power Inc. of Worcester says Arthur B. Berry III, owner of the Camelback ski resort, has bought an equity stock in a company that manufactures the Mass Megawatts wind generator.
Berry has been exploring wind power for the ski resort, which is in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania and is in discussions with Mass Megawatts regarding the company's technology. Berry bought an equity stake in Electric City Wind Power Corp., also of Pennsylvania, which makes Mass Megawatts' "multi-axis turbosystem" wind energy generator. Mass Megawatts is a shareholder in Electric City and receives a 10 percent licensing fee on all of its sales.
Mass Megawatts said its talks with Berry could now be "ratcheted up to a new level," and that the Camelback resort could require 3 megawatts of wind power.
