Two Green Dot-run schools, Animo Inglewood Charter High School and Animo Leadership charter High School, were awarded California Gold Ribbon Awards on Tuesday.

The schools were honored for “outstanding progress” of students in both math and English.

To earn a Gold Ribbon, schools must exceed the state average for student performance on the state’s Smarter Balanced Assessments.

The schools join Animo Pat Brown Charter High School, which won the Gold Ribbon the last time the awards were given to high schools in 2015.

Green Dot Public Schools is a nonprofit organization that operates 21 public charter schools in California and three public schools in Tennessee. The schools are purposely located in high-need communities and offer a college-prep curriculum.
