'Star Wars Battlefront' beta launches next month

Video game players will get their first taste of combat on the ice planet Hoth next month.

Publisher Electronic Arts confirmed a beta test for the upcoming video game Star Wars Battlefront will arrive in early October.

According to a statement published Tuesday from EA and game developer DICE, the beta will feature a 40-player multiplayer battle called Walker Assault, which takes place on the planet Hoth. It also features a Survival Mode based on Tatooine, where one player works with a teammate to fend off Imperial troops.

DICE says a new mode called Drop Zone will be included, but no details on the mode were revealed.

The game will launch on November 17 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
