Swindon-based insurance broker Arthur J. Gallagher has raised more than £8,000 for the town’s Prospect Hospice.

Eight staff members took part in the BUPA London 10k run earlier this year – with the final amount doubled thanks to the company’s Employee Matched Giving scheme.

Branch director Mark Holmes said: “Training began at the start of the year with the team keen to shape up in time for the big race.

“We are all great believers in giving something back to our community, so although running 10k was a huge challenge for us all, the training and dedication paid off on the day and we have been able to help the hospice continue its invaluable work serving local people.”

The Prospect Hospice needs around £7m each year to support a community of 300,000 locals, providing end-of-life care for patients and their families at home, in care homes, at the Great Western Hospital and in the hospice at Wroughton.

Prospect challenge event fundraiser Mela Durston thanked the Arthur J. Gallagher team for their efforts, saying: “The fantastic efforts they put towards their training and fundraising meant that the team raised an impressive £8,219.36 towards our services.

“We would also like to thank Arthur J. Gallagher for its Matched Giving donation and, of course, all those who supported the team with their fundraising.”
