TV One is joining the awards show fray, partnering with the Rev. Al Sharpton to telecast the Triumph Awards in October.

The kudos will honor musicians John Legend and Tyrese, actress Wanda Sykes, the Rev. Joseph E. Lowery and others for humanitarian and philanthropic work.

Actress Tichina Arnold is set to host. The event, which will feature numerous musical performances and celebrity presenters, will be taped Sept. 12 for broadcast in October.

“Through our show, people will experience the power of musical artistry as a message medium while it is interwoven with the triumphant stories of the luminaries who will be honored,” said Janaye Ingram, exec director of Sharpton’s National Action Network.

Bart Phillips of Sunseeker Entertainment and Christina Norman of Gemini Entertainment will serve as exec producers.
