Coleraine one victory away from lifting title

Coleraine's hammering of Donemana on Saturday leaves them two points clear with next Saturday's final game, at Beechgrove, to complete the regular season. Victory, of course, will give Scott Campbell's side their second league success in three years while a home win will force a play-off.

Graeme McCarter, with 40, was top scorer as Coleraine struggled to 132 for nine in their 50 overs but it proved more than enough as the Ireland international followed up with three wickets and Jarred Barnes with four dismissed Donemana for just 55 - and that included 20 extras.

Brigade hurried to victory at Magheramason, passing Bready's 153 in just 23 overs for the loss of five wickets. Ifti Hussain wasn't one of them, however, seeing his side home with 62 not out and he received excellent support from young Matthew Gillespie (39) in a match-winning fifth wicket stand of 85. Ireland international Craig Young bowled five wicketless overs for 31 but did his bit the bat, top scoring with 52, from number 6.

At the other end of the table, St Johnston missed a great chance to put the pressure on Bready when, defending 156 they reduced Ardmore to 99 for seven but professional Forster Mutizwa was still there, and he finished 86 not out, after dominating an undefeated eighth wicket stand with Gary Neely, who scored only four, to see the home side to victory.

With a vastly inferior run-rate, even victory at home to Eglinton - who defeated Strabane by six wickets on Saturday - next weekend is unlikely to save them from relegation.
