A one-off radio show featuring two of Cambridge University's most-loved University Challenge contestants airs tonight (August 21).

Eric Monkman and Bobby Seagull feature in Monkman and Seagull’s Polymathic Adventure, a half-hour programme which will also feature Stephen Fry.

A polymath is a person with a tendency to develop knowledge across all disciplines, using that knowledge to solve specific problems.

Eric, 29, and Bobby, 32, displayed their polymathic ability to great effect in this year's University Challenge contest and became friends despite being captains of rival college teams.

They quickly became social media sensations and have also released their own quiz book.

At the crux of tonight's programme, the pair will be discussing whether it is better to know a little about a lot or a lot about a little.

Part of that will be a talk about ‘The Last Man Who Knew Everything’, the 18th century polymath Thomas Young who challenged Isaac Newton's theories and whose work on the Rosetta Stone was key to deciphering hieroglyphics among other remarkable feats.

The programme is on BBC Radio 4 at 8.30pm.
