Families heading to Florida to visit theme parks like Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Studios in Orlando have a new option to get there faster from Vancouver.

In late July, WestJet announced a new weekly service between Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Orlando International Airport (MCO).

According to YVR Airport's website, this is Vancouver’s only direct service to Florida and its first-ever service to Orlando. The new route commences on January 1, 2016 and will operate weekly.

The flight departs Vancouver at 11:35 p.m. on Fridays and arrives Orlando at 8 a.m. the next day.

From Orlando, the flight departs on Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. and arrives YVR at 1:03 p.m. later that day.

Besides being a family vacation destination, Orlando is a jumping-off point for Caribbean cruise from Port Canaveral.
