PORT CANAVERAL

United Way support

The Canaveral Port Authority recently hosted its first “United Way Day at Jetty Park.”

Activities at the Nov. 21 event included interaction with Port Canaveral staff and our community partners. Proceeds from the event and campground revenue generated at Jetty Park that day were contributed to United Way of Brevard.

Also, GT USA, which operates the port’s new container and general cargo terminal, handed out free turkeys to the first 50 families. Other organizations lending support included the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Wild Ocean Seafood Market, Sysco, Cape Canaveral Fire Department, Keep Brevard Beautiful, Brevard Nature Alliance, Bridges, and the Housing for Homeless.

COCOA BEACH

Militar Affairs Council

The Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Military Affairs Council will hold its 14th annual Christmas party and wine raffle from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Doubletree by Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront, 2080 N. Atlantic Ave.

Cost is $20 per person; $250 for a table of 10 sponsorship and $150 for a table of 5 sponsorship.

The event will feature a recognition of the chamber’s outgoing board of directors, ambassador of the year and president’s club members.

All funds raised by the raffle benefit active duty military families stationed in Brevard County. Wine raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20. People can also donate a bottle of wine – valued at minimum of $10 – and receive a raffle ticket.
