Scripps Networks Interactive-owned channel Food Network is to debut its haunted baking competition series Halloween Baking Championship (pictured) on October 5.
Produced by LA-based Triage Entertainment, the 4 x 60-minute series will see seven of America’s top bakers compete to whip up spooky treats, from spider cupcakes to mummy macaroons.
Hosted by Richard Blais, contestants must impress Israeli pastry chef Ron Ben-Israel, Top Chef finalist and chef Carla Hall and renowned American pastry chef Sherry Yard for the chance to take home a grand prize total of US$25,000.
In the premiere episode, contestants will be put to the test in a pre-heat challenge tasked with baking cupcakes using only classic Halloween candies like lollipops and candy corn. One challenger will be awarded a special advantage in the main heat trial, where competitors will create a dessert resembling a ghost, zombie, mummy or witch.
Halloween Baking Championship airs October 5 at 9 p.m. EST/PST on Food Channel.
