Georgia Department of Labor, VFW to host job fair in Athens

About 60 employers and resource agencies are expected to participate in the Veterans Seventh Annual Spring Job and Resource Fair on May 10 in Athens. Employers will be recruiting to fill a number of job openings, while the resource agencies will provide information about their services.

The Georgia Department of Labor and the Veterans of Foreign Wars will co-host the event. It will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at VFW Post 2872, 835 Sunset Drive in Athens. Department of Labor staff will be on site to screen the applicants.

The event is designed to assist with the employment needs of active, retired, and reserve military personnel and their families. However, all job seekers may attend.

Employers and resource agencies that have already registered include: Anthony International, Athens-Clarke County Police Department, Piedmont Athens Regional hospital, Athens Technical College, Athens-Clarke County government, Baldor Electric Co., Benson’s Hospitality, Buhler Quality Yarns Corp., Carrier Transicold, Certainteed, Circle K, City of Winder/Winder Police, Clarke County School District, Clarke County Sheriff’s Office, Cox Media Group/Athens, Disabled American Veterans, Dial America and Eaton Corporation.

Also represented on May 10 will be ETCON, Express Employment, Georgia Department of Transportation, Georgia Pacific, Hitachi Automotive, Hope Haven, Jackson EMC, Johns Manville, Kelly Services, Kroger, Leggett &Platt, Lowe’s, Mansfield Oil, McCann Aerospace, McLane Company, Nakanishi Manufacturing Corporation, Ollie’s Distribution Center, Paxen, Pilgrim’s Pride, Power Partners, Rescare Home Care, Schneider Trucking, SMI Composites LLC, Superior Commercial Cleaners, The Ritz Carlton, Two Men and a Truck Movers, University of Georgia, W.I.A., and Wal-Mart Distribution Center.
