RIDLEY TOWNSHIP >> the commissioners unanimously authorized the township to enter into a contract agreement with Johnson Controls for a street lighting retrofit project to install LED street lights.
The installation of energy-efficient LED street lights throughout Ridley will save the township approximately $68,000 per year in lighting costs, Ridley officials said.
“I think this is a great program, very worthwhile,” Commissioners President Robert J. Willert said.
In another matter, a four-lot subdivision/land development application from the owner of a property on Bullens Lane received unanimous approval from the board of commissioners at its recent meeting.
The approved plan calls for two existing dwellings to remain on two separate lots and a new dwelling to be constructed on each of the two new lots to be created by the subdivision.
Also at the meeting, members the Ridley Township Cal Ripken Baseball League were congratulated and honored for their achievement. Each member of the three teams in the league for boys ages 12 and younger received a personalized plaque. Each team also received a large engraved trophy in recognition of its winning season.
Making the presentations on behalf of their colleagues were commissioners Thomas Donahue II and Patrick McMenamin. Also commended, in addition to the players, were their parents, coaches and many volunteers, many who filled the meeting room for the special ceremony.
