The last day to shop at the Gap and GapKids stores in the Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley is Sunday.

At both stores, clearance items are 75 percent off and regularly priced items are 40 percent off. The stores are open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

The Gap store is located between Pandora and Lucky Brand, and GapKids is located next to L.L. Bean and Sweet & Sassy, according to the Promenade store directory.

Gap Inc. spokesman Sean Piazza said in an email the company is not disclosing the number of store employees that will be affected. “Gap is committed to working with employees who want to stay with the company to help them find positions at nearby Gap or Gap Outlet stores, or at another Gap Inc. brand,” Piazza wrote in an email.

News of the Gap and GapKids closures broke in late June, about two weeks after Gap Inc. announced it would shutter 175 specialty stores in North America over the next few years as part of an “aggressive agenda designed to strengthen the brand” in its most successful locations, according to a news release.

“As part of a comprehensive strategy to position Gap brand for improved business performance and build for the future, Gap Inc. recently announced it would right-size its North America specialty store fleet,” Piazza said in a statement.

The closings will leave Gap with about 500 specialty locations and 300 Gap outlet stores in North America.

Following the Promenade store closures, Gap will still have a presence in the region, with Gap and GapKids stores at the Lehigh Valley Mall and a Gap store at the Palmer Park Mall in Palmer Township.

According to posts on the Gap at Saucon Valley and GapKids/BabyGap Facebook pages, both Promenade locations opened there in early 2014.
