Campbell Soup Co. (CPB) Climbed On Better Than Expected Q1 Earnings

Campbell Soup Co. (CPB) reported first quarter adjusted EPS of $0.95 Tuesday morning, up from $0.78 last year. Analysts expected EPS of $0.76. Full year 2016 adjusted EPS is expected to be between $2.75 and $2.83. The consensus estimate is for EPS of $2.59.

Campbell Soup gapped open sharply higher Tuesday, but retreated a bit in early trade, before settling into a range. The stock closed up by 1.54 at $51.33, with volume at nearly a 5-month high. Campbell Soup leaped to a 3-week high and re-crossed its 50-day moving average.
