Deal watch: Free tours on Royal Caribbean cruises

Special for USA TODAY

Book this weekend and get up to $150 per stateroom in shore excursion credit for your Royal Caribbean cruise. The deal applies to reservations made between August 14 and 16.

Royal Caribbean is using the offer to tout new tours that include playing five-on-five soccer in Spain, visiting Buddhist temples in Bangkok and exploring Rome in a classic, three-wheeled Ape Calessino. The list now includes 2,800 shore excursion options worldwide, according to the line.

The tours come in seven categories: Active Adventures, Family Connections, Royal Tour Challenges, Culture and Sights, Culinary Delights, Caring Discoveries (with opportunities for voluntourism) and the Royal Premium Tour Collection.

The free shore excursions offer applies to sailings of five nights or more embarking on or after September 15. Exceptions are China cruises and select Caribbean sailings on the Quantum-class Ovation of the Seas, which debuts next year.

You get $75 credit when booking an inside or oceanview stateroom – enough to cover two snorkel adventures at the cruise line's private Bahamas island destination, CocoCay. Those in balcony staterooms and suites get $150 to spend on shore excursions.
