Mumbai, Apr 6: Reliance Communications Ventures Limited (RCOVL) and Finland-based F-Secure Corporation will partner each other in India to provide data security services for the former's customers.

Announcing the pact here today at a press conference, RCOVL, president, broadband business, Prakash Bajpai, said that F-Secure will provide its F-Secure service platform for consumers, a solution that allows ISPs to offer their residential and small office customers a complete, security solution that will protect their computers against viruses, external attacks, harmful content and spam.

''With F-Secure's service platform for consumers, Reliance Communications can now offer safe Internet experience for its fast-growing broadband customer base,'' Mr Bajpai said.

Terming this tie-up as a ''pioneering step in the field of security service offering'' extending beyond the usual limitations of retail security products, Mr Bajpai said that RCOVL preferred to partner F-Secure over its other global competitors because of the latter's global market leadership position in the security provision space and its sharp and exclusive focus on security products.

Describing India as one of F-Secure's most important markets, the company's president and CEO, Risto Siilasmaa, said that his company was in talks with other ISPs as well for possible tie-ups and that it was now intent on expanding its operations in India.

F-Secure's service platform for consumers will be available in two packages - Reliance PC Protect Basic and Family Packs. These packages include a combination of anti-virus, spyware, firewall, parental control and spam conrol.
