America’s Finest News Source strikes again.
Satirical website the Onion has a knack for making up things that are uncomfortably close to reality. The Onion reported Tuesday that health insurer Aetna has begun offering a wedding registry that lets members pick out future medical procedures they want friends and family to buy them.
Because, you know, healthcare is expensive, even with insurance. Besides, real newspapers have suggested newlyweds sock away some of their wedding loot for things like medical expenses.
With the Rise of AI, What IP Disputes in Healthcare Are Likely to Emerge?
Munck Wilson Mandala Partner Greg Howison shared his perspective on some of the legal ramifications around AI, IP, connected devices and the data they generate, in response to emailed questions.
“Pat’s groomsmen all went in together on a knee arthroscopy for him because he’s got bad joints,” a friend of a soon-to-be-married couple is quoted as saying. “By the time I visited the registry, someone had already gotten them the CT scan, but I picked out some blood tests, which is good because I know they’ll definitely need them. Plus, it’s nice to know they’ll be thinking of me when they use them.”
Naturally, the couple added a few big-ticket items for wealthier wedding revelers. “When reached at press time, [the friend] confirmed that no one had yet to touch the couple’s $2,120 annual deductible,” the Onion said.
