The Houston Rockets (51-22) will host the Golden State Warriors (59-14) in a Western Conference heavyweight clash at the Toyota Center on Tuesday evening. The Rockets, on a seven-game winning streak, are only one of only three teams in the league to own a victory against the Warriors at the Oracle Arena.

With less than 10 games remaining in the season, it’s highly unlikely that the Rockets displace the San Antonio Spurs (57-16) or the Warriors for the top two seeds in the conference. However, they could take a lot of momentum into next month's playoffs with a pair of wins against the Warriors this week -- the final two games of the four-match regular season series. After the Rockets prevailed 132-127 in a double overtime game at the Oracle Arena on Dec. 1, the Warriors returned the favour with a 125-108 win in Houston on Jan. 20.

Since the teams will see each other again Friday, both coaches have been stressing on the importance of the following week which could unearth strategies and match-ups ahead of potential playoff series down the road. If the regular season were to end with the same seeding, the Rockets and Warriors could square off in the Western Conference Finals, provided James Harden & Co. can get past the Spurs in the second round.

The Warriors have bounced back from the early month slump, going off on a seven-game winning streak since the 106-104 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Mar. 14. After losing Kevin Durant to injury, the Warriors lost five out of seven games and were no longer viewed as prohibitive favourites to win the West. However, Stephen Curry & Co. have dispelled those doubts in recent weeks despite Durant's absence.

"It's nice to have a win streak again. I think we really responded to playing without KD well. Obviously, it's a challenge, but we're going to be that much better when he comes back," said All-Star guard Klay Thompson, via ESPN. Thompson scored 21 of his 31 points in the second half during Golden State's 106-94 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday.
