BBC Worldwide has inked a deal that will send nearly 300 hours of CBeebies preschool content—including series like Go Jetters (pictured) and Hey Duggee—to one of China’s biggest online video platforms, iQIYI.
Signed during BBC Worldwide Showcase 2017, the deal marks the first time CBeebies shows will be available for streaming on a digital platform in China.
iQIYI will premiere the CBeebies block on its platform and on the iQIYI app this summer.
As of June 2016, iQIYI claimed to have 20 million paid subscribers. Its mobile version, meanwhile, has grown to become the most-used online video app in China, currently active on 120 million devices daily.
CBeebies programming heading to the service in English and/or Mandarin also includes the 2017 Kidscreen Award-winning animated series Sarah & Duck.
BBC Worldwide’s relationship with iQIYI dates back to 2015, when it initially partnered with the company to launch premium factual content.
The latest agreement comes on the heels of Mattel’s newly expanded partnership with global e-commerce giant Alibaba Group.
