AutoZone is set to move its Franklin location on Columbia Avenue.

AutoZone is set to move its Franklin location across Columbia Avenue to what is now a vacant lot that the company purchased in November, a spokesman confirmed via email.

"We are relocating to a free standing building across the street," spokesman Ray Pohlman wrote on Monday.

Memphis-based AutoZone Development, LLC, bought the site at 933 Columbia Ave. -- near the city's police headquarters and just blocks from Franklin's revitalized downtown core -- from Franklin Square Partners, LLC, for $1.15 million, public documents show.

The lot, listed as more than a half-acre, was previously sold in 2008 for $940,000, according to Williamson County property records.

The AutoZone is in a strip mall at 1014 Columbia Ave., next to a Piggly Wiggly supermarket.

Pohlman did not immediately return a call or email asking for more information about the plans to move.

Henry W. Brockman Jr., who is listed in the documents as president of Franklin Square Partners, LLC, could not immediately be reached for comment.
