Hello, I want to upgrade my video card to a GTX 980 but first I wanna make sure that it will be compatible with what I have in my PC. Here are my specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5 4690K
RAM: 8.00GB Single-Channel DDR3
Motherboard: Gigabyte B85-HD3
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660

My concern is that it will not be compatible with my Motherboard. I also have an Asus Z-87-C motherboad.

Also, which model of the 980 should I buy? Maximum 550 USD

Thank you in advance!

Solution

Yes you will be absolutely fine, make sure your PSU is a good quality 650W if you are thinking of overclocking CPU and GPU.

Unless you are going to go for the very enthusiast level overclocking the G1 Gaming is amazing for it's price. I know this because i am working on a GPU...

I have a 550W PSU and don't plan on overclocking anything. I was looking into the G1 Gaming one too! Thank you very much!
