One person is dead after a propane heater started a fire in a southeast Roanoke home Wednesday night.
Roanoke Fire-EMS arrived to heavy flames coming from a house in the 1100 block of Stewart Avenue about 8:50 p.m., spokeswoman Tiffany Bradbury said.
One person was found dead. Two other people were injured in the fire, Bradbury said.
The deceased person was taken to the medical examiner’s office in Roanoke. Officials will release the name of the victim once the medical examiner confirms the person’s identity. That information wasn’t available Thursday.
Three adults and three children have been displaced, and the American Red Cross is assisting them, Bradbury said.
Thursday morning, Bradbury said the fire was caused by the use of a propane heater indoors. The fire has been ruled accidental.
