KLAMATH CO., Ore. (KOIN) — A 24-year-old man was caught trying to leave the state with nearly 300 lbs of marijuana inside a U-Haul truck, Oregon State Police said.

Georgia resident Kim Mason was pulled over for a traffic violation Saturday morning along Highway 140E near Klamath Falls. An OSP trooper said he was suspicious of Mason’s behavior and asked if he could search the moving truck.

The U-Haul was filled with recently-purchased furniture covered in blankets and taped, OSP said. Troopers found 296.1 lbs of marijuana inside the furniture.

Mason reportedly told troopers he was traveling from Ashland to Salt Lake City.

He was arrested for exporting marijuana items over 16 oz from Oregon and

PCS marijuana over 32 oz, police said. He is currently lodged in Klamath County Jail.
