Open Centre Africa joins Sustainable Development Network

The Open Centre Africa has officially been accepted as a member organization into the Sustainable Development Solutions Network-Youth (SDSN Youth).

The Executive Committee of the SDSN Youth on Monday, April 4, 2016, approved the Organisation's application for membership to work together in support of sustainable development.

The membership offers the platform for collaboration on research, solutions initiatives, campaigns and policy dialogues.

Launched by UN Secretary General, Mr Ban Ki-moon in August 2012, the Sustainable

Development Solutions Network (SDSN) mobilises scientific and technical expertise in support of sustainable development problem solving at local, national, and global level.

SDSN-Youth is the youth division of the SDSN, a new initiative, which engages youth globally on issues in the post-2015 agenda. Through education and global cooperation, SDSN-Youth encourages young people to prioritise the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by creating a global platform to advocate for change and to offer solutions for achieving the SDGs.

It works alongside policymakers and receives assistance from field experts. The global reach of SDSN, with its strong links to universities from around the world, provides a unique opportunity to effectively involve youth in the post-2015 agenda.

Registered in February 2014, the Open Centre Africa is a Non-Governmental Organisation formed by a group of young African students and professionals to pool their knowledge and expertise to address Africa's development challenges.

It is a research and advocacy organisation that works to promote sustainable development through good governance and working towards the realisation of SDGs.

The Open Centre Africa Organisation's ongoing flagship projects include Edulinks, Wealth of Women, Wealth of Youth, and Campaign Forum all aimed at realizing SDG goals 4, 7, 8, 13, and 16.
