The Grainger Foundation, an independent, private foundation located in Lake Forest, Illinois, has donated $5,000 to Western Carolina Rescue Mission, Inc., in support of its Women’s Recovery Program.
“This grant will be used to purchase mattresses, and other bed and educational items for Abba’s House, a recovery and transitional program for women and children experiencing addictive behaviors,” said Will Cunningham, Director of Development. “We support our city’s most vulnerable and least remembered, which is Asheville’s homeless population. We are grateful to The Grainger Foundation for its generosity.”
Western Carolina Rescue Mission, Inc., currently serves the needs for transitional and recovery programs brought on by homelessness due to an increase in area poverty.
This donation was recommended by Ted Slagle, Market Manager of W.W. Grainger, Inc.’s, Asheville, NC, and Johnson City, TN, locations. Grainger has been a part of the Western North Carolina business community for more than 15 years as the leading broad line supplier of maintenance, repair, and operating products. “We are proud to recommend the programs offered by Western Carolina Rescue Mission,” said Slagle. “We understand the need for Abba’s House to help women and children overcome addictive behavior and return to productive lives.”

Western Carolina Rescue Mission, Inc., serves Asheville’s homeless population by providing nearly 100,000 meals and more than 34,000 nights of emergency shelter annually to the homeless, as well as offering a 12-month addiction recovery program.
