Artist behind mural on Boston's tallest building is revealed

Boston — The owners of Boston's tallest building have revealed the name of the artist who created a giant mural that mysteriously appeared on the skyscraper this week.

Boston Properties Inc. said in a statement Thursday that the mural on "200 Clarendon," formerly known as the John Hancock building, is the work of French artist and photographer "JR," whose real name isn't known.

The mural depicts a man in shorts and was installed between the 44th and 50th floors of the building. Boston Properties says it will be 150 feet wide and 86 feet tall when it's completely finished and will be on display through mid-November.

Boston Properties says the mural is the final piece of a three-part series of temporary public art at the building.
