President and CEO, Max Villaronga, introduced Nick Horak as the new Vice President of Information Technology for TFCU. Horak has 20 years of experience in the field of Information Technology. Horak earned his BBA and MBA in Information Systems from the University of the Incarnate Word.

Scherr Legate Law Firm

Attorney Joseph G. Isaac has become a partner in the Scherr Legate Law firm. Isaac was admitted to the Texas Bar in 2007 and the New Mexico Bar in 2008. He received his bachelor's in 2004 from the University of Texas at El Paso and his law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2007.

Lone Star Title

Lone Star Title announced that John Martin completed the requirements and passed a rigorous examination to earn the Certified Title Insurance Associate. This elite certification program is managed by the Texas Land Title Association. Martin has been active in the title industry for over 30 years and is currently president and owner of Lone Star Title.

Manpower at Workforce Solutions Borderplex

El Paso resident Bill Hegeman earned the Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP) credential awarded by the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP). Hegeman currently serves as a program supervisor with Manpower at Workforce Solutions Borderplex — a leader in workforce development in the region helping more than 34,000 job seekers find employment last year.

Visit El Paso

Visit El Paso honored several of its industry partners at a hospitality reception held in conjunction with National Travel and Tourism Week. Valorie McKenzie was the recipient of the “Hotel Ambassador of the Year” award. McKenzie, Sales Administrative Assistant for the Doubletree by Hilton hotel has been in the industry for more than 10 years. Adrienne Vasquez, Administrative Assistant at Rocketbuster was the recipient of the “Tourism Ambassador of the Year” award.

This year another category was added to our Ambassador of the Year awards with the addition of the Volunteer of the Year Award. This year’s award was presented to Melissa Sargent who not only volunteers for one organization, but is involved in several organizations in the community. Sargent has volunteered with the El Paso County Historical Commission, Keystone Heritage Park, Six Guns and Shady Ladies, serves on the Board of Member of the El Paso Woman’s Club, Concordia Heritage Association and on the Board for the National Day of the Cowboy.

Additionally, Visit El Paso honored Joe Frandina for his life-long contributions to the hospitality industry. Frandina, owner/operator of the Holiday Inn Express – City Center and Days Inn – East, retired after 40 years in the El Paso community.
