Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon hosts first Field Day event at Wayne State, and other events across Metro Detroit

a.m. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office will host its first Field Day event at Wayne State University’s athletic field. This event is geared toward the entire family. Highlights include a showcase of the talent and skills of sworn and civilian personnel in track and field, softball, basketball, obstacle course, mounted unit, motor unit and tug-of-war for males and females. p.m. “Faygo Movie Night in the D” is back at Campus Martius Park for big LED screen presentations. This week’s film is “The Martian,” starring Matt Damon. 8 p.m. (Screenings will be held every Sat. through Aug. 27.) Woodward at the foot of Fort, downtown Detroit. p.m. Be there for the return of the Fair Lane Folk Festival at historic Henry Ford Estate. Activities include performances by national, regional and local musicians performing modern folk, Americana, roots, and bluegrass music. Performers include Justin Townes Earle, Wild Child, Birds of Chicago, and locals, like Olivia Millerschin, and Doop & The Inside Outlaws.
