Randall M. Chesler will become the new president of Glacier Bank and will eventually become the chief executive officer of Glacier Bancorp, Inc., a regional bank holding company based in Kalispell.

Chesler, who has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, will start in August and will be appointed to the board of Glacier Bank. He will also be nominated for election to Glacier Bancorp’s board at next year’s annual meeting. The role of president is a newly created position and Chesler will succeed Mick Blodnick as chief executive officer of the bank’s parent company, Glacier Bancorp, in 2017. Blodnick will retire as CEO at the end of 2016.

“We are delighted to have someone of Randy’s caliber join our team,” Blodnick said in a press release. “We conducted an extensive internal and external search for this position and considered many highly-qualified candidates. Randy rose to the top not only in view of his talent and experience, but as a person with the leadership traits and quality of character that fit well with the Glacier organization.”

Prior to coming to Glacier Bank, Chesler was president of CIT Bank, a Salt Lake City-based subsidiary of CIT Group. In that time he helped grow the bank’s assets from $500 million to more than $20 billion.

“I’m delighted to join such an outstanding banking organization and have the opportunity to work with some of the best people in the business, at every level,” Chesler said.

Glacier Bancorp provides banking services in 82 communities in Montana, Idaho, Utah, Washington, Wyoming and Colorado.
