Erie Indemnity Co (ERIE) reported a profit for its third quarter that gained ground from last year.
The company said its bottom line totaled $51 million, or $0.95 per share. This was up from $47 million, or $0.90 per share, in last year's third quarter.
Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.93 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company said revenue for the quarter fell 5.6% to $1.35 billion. This was down from $1.43 billion last year.
