Ball Corp to commission facility at Sanand on Friday

US based packaging solutions provider Ball Corporation will commission its manufacturing facility at Sanand on Friday. The unit will have an initial manufacturing capacity of 50 million aerosol cans per annum.

AHMEDABAD: US based packaging solutions provider Ball Corporation will commission its manufacturing facility at Sanand on Friday. The unit will have an initial manufacturing capacity of 50 million aerosol cans per annum.
In the first phase company will be investing Rs 120 crore and is targeting revenues worth Rs 65 crore. In next 5-10 years, the Colorado headquartered company plans to add another six production lines with an investment of Rs 530 crore.
The company aims to manufacture 300 million cans per annum at full capacity in the next decade.
According to Ball Corp officials, the Sanand plant will supply 70% of its production to domestic customers which will be mostly deodorant makers, while the rest will be exported. The officials further added that the company will consume, 7000-8000 tonnes of aluminium per annum at its full capacity.
The Indian aerosol can market which is growing at double digit rate is estimated at about 400 million cans per annum.
The company had acquired land in Sanand in August 2014 and had held groundbreaking in October last year.
Sebastien Gaspari, Director - Business Strategy, Ball Aerocan, Europe said, "Looking at the growth of Indian market, there is good potential for business to grow.”
"We will have senior minister of Gujarat government Saurabh Patel to inaugurate the plant on Friday," said Ajith Kumar, head - operations of the company in India.
The NYSE-listed company, Ball Corporation supplies one billion canes to its customers in in the beverages, food and household and aerospace segment with the global sales of US $ 8.6 billion and US $ 8.5 billion market cap.
