On the list this week: Job growth, Credit uptick and More jobs

JOB GROWTH
The nation’s private sector employment numbers continued to grow in November, staying on pace with October’s growth figures, according to Roseland-based ADP. The payroll and human resources company said in its monthly ADP National Employment Report that the U.S. added 216,000 jobs for the month. That figure was higher than October, when it added 147,000 jobs.

Our take: The bigger-picture job issue has to be out in Indiana, where Carrier decided it was not a good idea to ship as many jobs out of the country as planned. We’re guessing many other companies will reach the same conclusion.

CREDIT UPTICK
The state takeover of Atlantic City was seen as a “credit positive” by Moody’s Investors Service.

Our take: The opinion comes on the heels of Jeffrey Chiesa of Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi being selected to oversee the state’s efforts. And while it may not be directly tied to the pick, we have to feel Chiesa will make a positive impact.

MORE JOBS
After cutting the ribbon earlier this month on its new Center of Excellence facility along White Horse Road, both Comcast and the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce say it’s a win for the region. The 42,000-square-foot facility, formerly home to the Cigna insurance company, was completely renovated by the media giant — after a consolidation of operations in Pennsylvania — to now house more than 650 employees.

Our take: Comcast continues to increase its presence in Jersey. This move will add 100 new employees. Always a good thing.

FACETIME: DEVELOPER

After helping so many companies improve their headquarters with EDA grants and awards, Gov. Chris Christie is turning to the State House with a $300 million facelift he says is way overdue. “Windows are literally falling out of this building,” he said. “To leave the State House in this condition is an embarrassment. And, quite frankly, it’s shameful.”
