Project will support dry Marcellus and Utica development.

EQT Midstream Partners LP on Thursday said it has entered into a definitive agreement with Range Resources-Appalachia LLC to construct a natural gas header pipeline in southwestern Pennsylvania that will support Range Resources (NYSE: RRC) dry Marcellus and Utica development.

The pipeline, which will provide more than half a billion cubic feet per day of firm capacity, is backed by a long-term firm capacity reservation commitment.

EQT Midstream (NYSE:EQM) said it will invest about $250 million for the construction of 32 miles of pipeline and installation of about 32,000 horsepower of compression. The project is to be completed in two phases. Phase one is expected to be in-service by third-quarter 2016 and phase two by mid-2017. The majority of capital investment is expected through next year and the first half of 2017.
