This week has seen another wave of appointments and departures at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key moves from the EMEA, APAC and North America regions below.

EMEA people are on the move

Facebook

Steve Hatch, Facebook’s top man in the UK and Ireland has been promoted to the role of regional director of Northern Europe.

Having served as director of UK and Ireland for nearly three years, Hatch moves up taking up oversight of more of the social network's markets.

Hatch, who is also on the board of Trinity Mirror PLC as a non-executive director and the chair of CBI Tech Group, has a long history working with brands from his time as chief of MEC, managing director of Mediaedge, and a board strategist at Y&R brands.

Bloomberg

Tim Ross will join Bloomberg's UK government team based in Westminster.

With 15 years’ experience reporting UK politics and current affairs, Ross joins Bloomberg News from the Telegraph Media Group where he was most recently senior political correspondent.

He will report to Alan Crawford, European government head, and will work closely with Simon Kennedy, Brexit editor, as well as the publisher's politics team in Westminster.

Publicis

Publicis London has announced the promotion of Trent Patterson, its head of account management to succeed Will Arnold-Baker as its new managing director.

Arnold-Baker is set to depart the business at the end of the year after 12 years with the company, although his next venture had yet to be revealed at the time of writing.

Patterson will report into Publicis London chief executive Karen Buchanan, having spent six years within the agency.

MCCGLC

MCCGLC has appointed Dan Jerrand in newly created role of creative director.

The London based design agency welcomes Jerrard, who has previously worked brands including Nike, Sony and Nintendo and will.

He said: “I hope to build on the creative culture and also bring an alternative perspective thanks to my broad industry experience.”

Initials

Rachel Bateman has been promoted to director and head of live engagement for creative agency Initials.

The promotion will see Bateman continue her current role with additional responsibilities including overseeing the welfare of existing staff and the live engagement within all board discussions.

With over 12 years in the industry, Bateman brings a portfolio with clients including PepsiCo and Samsung to name a few.

SpotX

SpotX has appointed Sam Wilson as director of business development as they hope to continue operations growth in the UK and Europe.

Prior to his appointment Wilson was the first European employee for Kaltura where he focused on clients such as Disnes, Magix and ITV after starting his career with Limelight networks.

Wilson has spent three years as director of media business development with SpotX, and will now be responsible for monetisation for publishers and broadcasters in the hope to benefit from the growth of programmatic advertising.

The Longhouse

The Longhouse has appointed Helen Kimber in newly created role of managing partner.

As the former head of talent at RKCR/Y&R, Kimber brings string of experience of developing and growing companies. She said: “My role is to diversify the business and help us deliver for the future generations.

“I'm thrilled to be joining The Longhouse at such a transitional time for both talent and creative businesses.”

Fifty-five

Fifty-five has named Richard Wheaton as its new UK managing director.

Wheaton brings nine years experience at Neo@Ogilvy with his most recent role as chief executive after leading Carat’s interactive division and standing as European marketing director of Getty Images.

In his new role, Wheaton will lead the expansion of the agency’s UK capability.

Latimer

Youth co-creation agency Latimer Group has hired former director of client services at BBC Worldwide Clare Oldaker for a similar role. She is joined by former Vice Media digital director Simon Voysey, who heads up new business development and marketing.

Both will report to co-founder and joint-managing director Jack Woodcraft.

Oliver Group

Oliver Group is stepping up its senior team talent with the appointments of Proximity’s Claire Aldous, TeamSpirit Share’s James Sanderson, and TMW’s Ed Howarth.

Aldous joins as its first head of data, while Sanderson will take on the role of managing director, operations and Howarth will step into the position of managing partner.

The new appointments follow a raft of recent new business wins, including Northern and Atos.

APAC people on the move

Isobar China

Isobar has named Dr Grace Liu as chief executive of its operations in China.

The new role will see Liu take charge of both of the company's offices in Shanghai and Beijing, with the aim of strengthening the service offerings and creative side of the business overall.

Liu will be based in Shanghai and report to Jane Lin-Baden, chief executive of Isobar APAC and Isobar China Group.

Crimson Hexagon

Crimson Hexagon has announced Justin Khaksar as its new managing director for EMEA and APAC.

After joining the company in July from Localytics, Khaksar helped announce and launch Crimson’s new platform addition HelioSight.

He has said in his role he hopes to expand the organisation and work across Europe and Asia with customer engagement with planned events planned to the end of the year.

North America people on the move

Procter & Gamble

Procter & Gamble has appointed Mondelez executive, Gerry D'Angelo as its new global media director, making him the company's second high-profile departure after its global media chief Bonin Bough left last month.

D'Angelo, currently the top European media executive for Mondelez International, will take up the newly created role of global media director at P&G and will report to vice president of brand operations worldwide Doreen Bayliff, according to Adage.

The move is part of P&G’s promise to hire more talent from outside the company and will see D'Angelo oversee the world’s biggest media budget.

Deutsch

Linda Sawyer, chairman of Deutsch and former chief executive, is leaving the agency after a 27-year run.

Mike Sheldon, who took over as North America chief executive last year when Sawyer became chairman, will now take on the role.

Sawyer joined the Interpublic Group agency, which has offices in LA and NYC, in 1989 and became North America chief executive in 2005. Throughout her career, she has received a number of accolades and awards, including a Matrix Award and a spot on Ad Age’s ‘100 Most Influential Women in Advertising’ list.

DigitasLBi

DigitasLBi has brought in an experienced account planner to be its senior vice-president/creative strategy, hiring David Chriswick for its Chicago and San Francisco offices.

Chriswick, a multiple award-winning account planner, comes to DigitasLBi from DDB Worldwide, where he was global strategy director, leading the international Mars account and the global rollout of the iconic “Taste the Rainbow” campaign for Skittles.

Chriswick will be based in Chicago, reporting to senior vice president of connections and brand experience planning Jonathan Tatlow. He will also work with the San Francisco office.

Quantcast

Quantcast has announced the appointment of Keith Lorizo as vice president of North America sales.

Lorizio joins Quantcast after serving as senior vice president of Buyer Cloud at Rubicon. In his new role at Quantcast, Lorizio will lead the North American client, relationship management and campaign management teams, based out of the company’s New York City office.

He said: “Our sales team is committed to partnering, communicating and delivering at greater strategic levels with marketers so the amazing audience solutions of Quantcast become a required part of every advertising launch.”

AKQA Portland

AKQA’s Portland office has hired a new creative director to lead the charge in the Rose City. Josh Combs joins the crew in Portland to support and nurture the creative teams.

Combs comes to Portland from Minnesota, where he was creative director at Fallon. He held the same position at JWT in New York and Paris before that.

Barker

New York independent agency Barker has hired two new employees: Jason Spies as senior vice-president, chief strategy officer and Ben Zank as social media strategist. Both will work out of the New York office.

Spies will be responsible for generating new business at the agency, a role he has had before, producing over $20m in revenue for multiple agencies over the last eight years.

Zank comes to Barker with over four years of experience in social media marketing and visual brand strategy, having worked with brands such as Converse, Tumblr, Hoyts, and Opel.
